  1. There have been spikes all over the country this summer and now in different areas this Fall. Do you know, for sure, that Escapade didn't cause some transmission. People spread out afterward all over the country. Our thinking is that we've been vaccinated and continue to wear masks in small crowds/stores. Around our vaccinated friends we don't wear masks. We feel much more confident doing things. However, we would not go to a huge gathering such as the maskless football games.
  2. Some sites usually open up during the Quartzsite RV Show timeframe as some lot owners left Benson to attend. The show time will be Jan 22-30 so that may be a good week to try. Also, the first week of January might be good before lot owners and visitors get there from their Christmas travels. February and March? Probably not. Oct/Nov is a lot easier. It's a very popular park .... for good reasons!
  3. Of course, there's Lake Superior fishing but inland here are some suggestions. I did a quick Google. There's more information there! https://www.uptroutfishing.com/MarquetteCounty.html
  4. What is our country coming to? Anyone can get a gun nowadays. Look at what pain and harm it's causing to the innocent. Murders are commonplace out on the streets. Look at the mass shootings we've having. We've never felt a need for a gun and what we see is making us sick. We really feel bad for our children and grandchildren in the coming years. It's only going to get worse. Gypsydan: To answer your question, if you were that close to what happened I might have ducked low so he couldn't see you. Other that that, nothing you could have done. As far as boondocking in the boonies; not on a parking lot..... you'd be much safer out there than in town. How often have you heard of situations in the boonies? We boondocked for 16 years and never felt uncomfortable except for one time around Borrego Springs, CA. Two of us were parked. Along comes a car. The occupants got out and started unloading their gear. The came up to us and politely stated they were going to do some target practice down into the ravine ahead. They offered us ear plugs. We decided to move because we didn't want to listen to the racquet. We didn't feel threatened in the least. That was the only issue in 16 years.
  5. Yes... but how many hours were they in that one room? On rainy days or blustery cold snowy days were they confined there? I really hope they succeed in doing this!
  6. You're such a special person... defying what's asked of you to save a life. Seatbelts save lives. Vaccinations save lives. The only way we'll get over this pandemic is if stubborn people get vaccinated. Why won't people do that? It's not your freedom to harm others.
  7. Cheaper than renting an apartment.... Domicile in Texas, Florida or South Dakota for the next 1.5 years until the ERPU is available. Then either change.... not a big deal - really .... or if you're going to be traveling anyway, keep your other domicile. You can still easily have your mail delivered to Summerdale when you're there.
  8. Wow! The Tab will be a HUGE drop in square footage for them from their B&B!! Best of luck to them!!
  9. We have found those places - not crowded and no fee!
  10. ..... or request your mail more often during this time.
  11. We've put moth balls in a mesh bag and put them in the engine compartment. No mice, pack rats, squirrels, chipmunks. We made sure to leave a note on the steering wheel to remind us to remove the bag before starting the engine!
  12. Northern Michigan is also gorgeous the first 2 weeks of October. Then parks begin closing down. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore near Traverse City, MI is fantastic! We volunteered there for 9 Fall seasons.
  13. What do you mean by this? Yellowstone National Park has closed campgrounds?
  14. Geez.... this was first posted on Thursday! Everyone is not on this forum daily like some of us. 😏
  15. I don't understand the question either. Harvest Hosts is not being a farm worker & boondocker. It's a program like Passport America, etc. You stay at a winery, farm or other private properties. No work involved.
  16. A lot easier if unrolled from the top! Since we're back to the toilet paper debate here's a good article with a 'clicky' for their testing. https://inspectapedia.com/septic/Toilet_Paper_Choices.php
  17. We paid a one-time lifetime price about 25 years ago for $325. I guess we're lucky we did. We love it.
  18. Chris and Cherie have a bus, a van camper and a boat. They alternate between all of them.
  19. I think most of us have had small campers or even started out as tenters and we've graduated to larger ones for full-timing. I think that would count as have some experience with a small camper. So far, no one has had one of these exact trailers but we all gave 'opinions' of things to think about. We don't know your daughter so don't know if she has thought out the possible issues. It may work for her but she needs to think it out. Hope this helps!
  20. Since you took I-10 previously you could head up to I-40 stopping at the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff where there's Sunset Crater and Wupatki Nat'l Monument Indian Ruins and Walnut Canyon Nat'l Monument. Continue east on I-40 to Petrified Forest Nat'l Park and on to Albuquerque then head a little north on I-25 to Santa Fe, NM - very nice town with beautiful historic buildings and also good hiking. Taos is nearby. Then I-25 south to I-40 east again and at Amarillo, TX pick any of the highways to San Antonio. Secondary highways in Texas are good.
  21. I agree with others... it's really small for a couple for full-timing and weather would be a factor. It just depends on who uses it; it may work for them if they're minimalists. It has 22 gal fresh tank; 18 gal grey and 12 gal black so not at all good for boondocking. Your daughter and husband are probably much younger but the bed could be an issue. One would have to crawl over the other to get in & out and if one wanted to stay up later or get up earlier it could be an issue. Bedding would be difficult as the mattress is surrounded by 3 walls. In cooler temperatures the bed area would gather a lot of moisture and since the mattress is up against the walls mold could be an issue. There's not much storage for a full-timer but again; perhaps they're big time minimalists. Finally, the wet bath could be an issue for two people. Nothing can be setting out on the counter and the walls would need wiping down after each use. For a weekender or just plain camping trips it would be great. Not so, for a full-timing couple. Just my opinion.
  22. Since it says "per person" I would assume it means a person; not the age of a RV. However, this is really strange. The park doesn't have anything for children and no pool so why charge extra?
  23. That's probably pack rats; not mice. They hoard all kinds of things.
  24. I'm not sure I understand your issue but Harvest Hosts are privately-owned places like wineries, farms, etc. Those types of businesses would have no reason to advertise in a campground directory. They aren't campgrounds. Sometimes they only have room for 1 or 2. They don't typically supply any services like hookups. Harvest Hosts is just a group of like businesses; not campgrounds.
