  1. We found the older we get the less we cook via recipes. We eat very simply - the most involved are soups. Therefore, the spices get old before using much of them. Buying a big spice rack would be wasteful for us. Now we just buy a few basic ones, date them and replace those after a year or so.
  2. I think you have to initiate it yourself by clicking on something.... I saw it once but I don't know where. Hope you find work soon!
  3. Take out a yardstick and see what 3' looks like. If you're considering 37', 40' isn't a big difference. 😁 Seriously, while you're looking around compare the wheelbase. When we went from a 33' 5th wheel we were determined not to go higher that a 38' MH. We test drove many 38' ones and also 40' ones. The 38' had a 252' wheelbase; the 40' had 276" wheelbase. The 40' with the longer wheelbase drove so much better. Just sayin'! If you ever start looking at used Newmar motorhomes, using this site you can see all the specs and floorplans and options available for the past years, including wheelbase. https://www.newmarcorp.com/owner-tools/brochures-archive/
  4. Same here. It's just a natural thing to put on now. I'm glad stores are requiring it.
  5. We once saw a RV in the desert pulling a large sailboat; loaded with lobster traps and other misc. stuff. We talked to him and it was a "just in case" thing. He hadn't had it in the water in over 7 years!!!
  6. Very interesting. I just did a Google and found this: https://enotarylog.com/ Wow! With online Dr. appts. grocery delivery, and now this we won't have to leave the house ever!!
  7. Here is information of the RV Driving School. There are many locations in the eastern states: https://www.rvschool.com/school-locations/
  8. Here's the outcome to the CDC article: https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/30/politics/twitter-coronavirus-deaths-false-claim-qanon-trump/index.html It was posted on Twitter and re-tweeted by Trump and has now been removed from Twitter. It was a article by a QAnon follower. One of our members, Agesilaus, had also posted it but has now been removed - either on this site or on iRV2.com
  9. How about doing a post on iRV2.com site? There's a very active Newmar owners site and also a Freightliner chassis site. Perhaps someone has had the same issue although I've never heard of this.
  10. You need to contact Freightliner and get reimbursement for your damage.
  11. Dual tires carry weight more safely.
  12. Wow! What a year!! Regarding the air valve control arm...... that should be a chassis issue. Have you contacted Freightliner ? They should be responsible for repairs. It sounds like you basically enjoyed most of your first year. You've got a lot invested in going full-time.. sale of house, etc. I'd recommend at least trying to deal with the chassis mfg. and consider hanging in there at least another year. No way you could have two years like that! Best of luck to you!!!
  13. We also loved boondocking on public lands with our 40' Class A and would drive up to 20 mi. from the pavement.... on good gravel/dirt roads. No Jeepin' boulder hopping with the RV! A side radiator is much better than a rear. In 8 yr. we never had an issue. Our ground clearance was good for what we did. Our sewer connection was up high inside a bay so nothing was hanging below.
  14. Good for you!! Fun and safe travels!!
  15. If you ever take a rafting trip down the Colorado River you'll find out that women can stoop in line at the river just as well as men. It's required that the river be used for pee. For #2 an ammunition can is used complete with a toilet seat. It's loaded into the boat after every stop and contents disposed of properly once back to town... after 8 or 9 days. Naturally, more than one can is used. You can't be modest on that trip! 😉
  16. Public parks were always our first choice and honestly, we never had an issue getting into the parks we wanted with our 40' motorhome. No, you won't fit in every one but neither will a 30'. Campgrounds are not strict as to parking. If you can fit on a site you can park there. They don't measure you. However, that's one of the reasons why we didn't make reservations. We wanted to see the site in person. We've stayed in national and state parks, Corp of Engineers, national forest campgrounds, county and city parks. We've had multiple stays in Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Glacier, Rocky Mtn., Bryce, Zion, Big Bend to name a few and many, many other types of public parks. We spent the summer in Alaska and used public parks or boondocked exclusively. That's our experience. I know there are many out there that say no, you can't with a big rig. I doubt they have every tried or else they have small RVs & think big rigs can't fit. We've often pulled so the rear end goes beyond the barrier but tires still on the parking site. Towing a small car you can be creative on the angle you park it so it fits. I will say that we only had two slides and we picked a floorplan with the slides on the same side. Now with 3 and 4 slides on both sides out there one would have a hard time dealing with trees lining the parking space. This could also be an issue with a small RV. Also think about having hookups when teens or others are with you. Public parks don't always have hookups and you'll soon run out of water and full tanks.
  17. We drank and cooked from our tank for 16 full-timing years and since it was used continuously we didn't sanitize the tank. We did have a good filter coming into the RV and also another at the kitchen sink. Got our filters here: https://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/ They are most helpful over the phone if you have questions as to what you need. We never had questionable water. Filled up at the potable water at dump stations and various other places.
  18. Just to give you an idea of possibles.... take a look at this site which shows floorplans of all and prices. There are categories for A or C and for diesel and gas. https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/ Sleeping 6 comfortably is going to be an issue and how often would they travel with you? Buy the RV for yourselves. Some parks will have cabins for your extra two adult guests or perhaps they'd enjoy their own space in a tent and the girls can sleep on the floor with an air mattress.
  19. As you're driving I-70 you may encounter some smoke. There are 3 fires going on near the interstate: around Fraser, Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction. Here's a good fire site for the U.S. for travelers.... lots of fires. https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/?state=3
  20. Definitely rent for your two weeks!
  21. I believe the smoke you're seeing is from the fire in Tucson at Saguaro Nat'l Park. I totally agree with FPMTNGAL ...... you need to go to higher elevation. You'd be so much more comfortable at 7,000+ elevation. In Arizona that would be Flagstaff, Williams, Pinetop or Greer. Other western states north it's easy to find spots where AC is not needed. We'd boondock all summer without AC in many states. Good luck!
  22. All you have to do is make an appt. for dentist for 9am.... no problem with a 2pm exit time. Sure saves $$$.
  23. Dental care is available in Mexico. It's considered a necessity. There is no closure for it.
  24. The Petersons, founders of the Escapees RV Club, were workers on the road.
