  1. And like so many of us, winter is gone but you are not. 🙃
  2. The author should be a politician. Her conclusion is that there is no conclusion.
  3. Interesting. I wonder if there are any other exceptions? With the limit of 10K, pretty much any motorhome would be in that group, yet we traveled through Maryland with our 20K motorhome several times and were never bothered! This is from Maryland's MDOT website:
  4. Scammers have been sending out things of that sort for various companies for years. The latest one is efforts to use COVID-19 as a basis and I have had warnings of that from both the VA and also from Medicare.
  5. Welcome to the Escapee forums! Alice&Jim are correct and they do not appreciate it if you do stop. There is no state which requires a privately owned recreational vehicle of any kind to stop at the port of entry or weigh stations.
  6. While that seems to be true, there are several user groups and also Bryant RV Service who make them available for download in .pdf format. I have copies of several and often refer to others online.
  7. I am looking for a service manual but so far have only found the operation & installation manual. Is the display looking normal?
  8. If you can post the model you have we might be able to help more. There are service manuals for most models available online, if you know where to look. They typically give more and better information than do owner's manuals.
  9. I'm not sure why that would matter to you as the customer? I make the vast majority of purchases with a cash back credit card not from W-F so the business never knows who I bank with but I have never had a merchant question our use of their debit care when we do so. I bank where I do for the services that they give to me, not to some merchant.
  10. I have heard the same news stories that you have but have no idea what the stories were about. I have never had anything but good service in the 20+ years that we have been with them. We have our accounts with Wells-Fargo Advisors, which is the brokerage side of the business so that might make some difference. You are certainly free to bank anywhere and pay the fees too.
  11. Since it is still under warranty, I wouldn't do more than what your owner's manual suggests. I would call the nearest RV service to get it looked at as most RV service shops can do warranty work for Dometic, even if they don't handle the make of RV that you have.
  12. Have you tried 4602 CR 673, #xxx, Bushnell, FL 33513? Or perhaps use Box in place of #? You may want to call the Escapees office on Monday.
  13. That is the lifestyle which we found suited us best in our 12 years on the road fulltime. We began doing volunteer for site positions to lower our cost of travel because we began before we qualified for SS or access to our 401k/IRA funds. After 5 years on the road we began to get SS and so tried the life without the volunteer stops, and quickly discovered that we had a need for the purpose of life and the social contacts that come with most volunteer locations. Since we typically worked only 3 days each week we would travel the areas around our volunteer locations for 100 miles or so in all directions while there and then move on to a new location, seldom returning to a location that we had previously volunteered. You are welcome to read more about our experiences on our website. While I have not kept it up well since we returned to part-time, we have now completed more than 30 different stays as volunteers, with 3 of those taking place after we returned to part-time..
  14. Welcome to the forums! If you look at page 13 of the Norcold Service Manual, you will find the fault codes. As I read this, there is nothing that fits what you describe. Is the light flashing red, or some other color?
  15. Vehicle insurance varies widely not only by state but also be individual factors. Of the 3 most popular states, according to insure.com, Florida is #3 and Texas #4 in the order of high vehicle insurance cots. They also rate South Dakota as #31 while Michigan is #1 as most expensive. But there are many things that should be considered in selecting a state for domicile. I suggest that you read a bit more about the issues and a good place to start might be The Issue of Domicile published by Escapees.
  16. Wells-Fargo reimburses us any of those fees, as do several other major banks.
  17. I do that also. I almost never use my debit card for several reasons. If it should be lifted a credit card is much less risk to the end user and usually easier to shut down. My 2% cash back credit card has a phone app that will shut it off if need be and my wife has a different card to use as a backup. Our debit cards are occasionally used for cash withdrawals but then we use them at an ATM we do so from a bank ATM and never a private one.
  18. If your RV batteries are connected in that way, it is the first RV that I have heard of to be that way. I have a good friend who travels with a Solitude and his batteries are connected exactly the same as most that I have seen. There are two common ways to connect a pair of batteries in RVs and which one will depend on what type of batteries you happen to have. If your batteries are each 12V, they should be connected in parallel. If you have 2 batteries that are each 6V, they should be connected in series. I highly doubt that yours are connected as you suggest. I would ask you some questions first, just to help me understand what is happening. The first question is, do you have your RV plugged into electricity from the RV power cord? How did you measure the voltage at your batteries and was outside power connected at the time? What did you use to measure the .8V and where was it measured? Were your overhead lights working when you took that measurement? Was the refrigerator working when you had that problem?
  19. Wells-Fargo and several other major banks will reimburse your ATM fees.
  20. Welcome to the Escapees RV Club forums! We are here to help and will do our best. Because most of us here are either retired or nearing that point in life, I will provide you with some links to places that may be more helpful because they source from members who travel with children and who work for a living. My first suggestion is that you consider joining the Escapees RV Club for the many benefits they provide. In the past few years the club has begun a subsection for younger members who work and who travel with families. The group is the X-Scapers and they are still members of the same group but share some more common ground with families. When you join one you are automatically given access to both. By joining these groups you then have access to things like mail forwarding services & address that is legal and acceptable for all purposes, club owned or affiliated RV parks to stay in at low cost, a great magazine on RV living, emergency road service for the RV at low cost, and a long list of other benefits. In addition, there are several of the families on the road who maintain websites that you will probably find to be helpful. One that is well recognized would be Fulltime Families, which has a great deal of helpful information. A good place to ask questions of those who live on the road with families is to visit the Xscaper's Facebook pages.
  21. I am pretty surprised that nobody has responded to you for 18 hours, but I will do my best to help. Your RV has either a converter to change 120V alternating current electricity into 12 direct current electricity for charging the batteries and supplying power to your appliances & lights, or you have an inverter/charger which can supply 120V alternating power to some outlets as needed and it can also take 120V alternating electricity (from shore power) and supply 12V direct current to recharge the batteries and supply the appliances and lights. Generally speaking, The batteries are not vital to this operation when you have 120V alternating current from your shore power cord connected. There are some problems of a battery that could effect the results even then, but not most. If you wish more help, share some way for me to get in touch or use the private message and send your phone number and I'll be happy to call or text you for more help.
  22. Welcome to the Escapee forums! We will do our best to help you. Based on the photos that you posted, my guess would be that those first two were done recently. New caulking is much cleaner looking than it is after only a relatively short period of time. It also quickly loses the shiny look to the surface. In the pictures you can also see a clean surface around the caulking, which makes me think that whoever did the caulking also cleaned the surface well before the job was done. On the skylight you can also see that the screw heads holding it down were sealed, as they should be. The third photo looks to be one of a vent cover which is not caulked and it should not be. If I am correct about what it shows, then there should be a small space between the bottom of each vent cover and the roof materials as those vent covers mount with brackets that attach to the sides of the roof vent. You could check inside of the cover to see the caulking around the vent assembly, however once we had the vent covers on our RV I didn't worry much about that caulking since the cover prevented it from direct sun. If that isn't a vent cover, then let us know and we will take another look. The way to tell if caulking needs to be replaced is to look for signs of cracking or of it getting places where the edges are not tightly sealed to the roof materials. If you can slip something under any of the edges or if there is more than an occasional small crack, the caulking should be replaced. I examine mine each year and replace it every 3 years.
  23. 40 pound propane tanks They are approximately 12 x 12 x 29 inches in size. They weigh approximately 30 pounds empty. They hold approximately 9 gallons of propane (which weighs approximately 38 pounds). They weigh approximately 68 pounds when filled with propane. 30 pound propane tanks They are approximately 12 x 12 x 24 inches in size. They weigh approximately 23 pounds empty. They hold approximately 7 gallons of propane (which weighs approximately 29 pounds). They weigh approximately 52 pounds when filled with propane. 20 pound propane tanks They are approximately 12 x 12 x 18 inches in size. They weigh approximately 14 pounds empty. They hold approximately 4 gallons of propane (which weighs approximately 17 pounds).
  24. You may not have a choice but to find a way to access the valve. If this is a problem with the cable system, the good part is that you should be able to open it manually once you gain access. Which tank is not draining? You don't use the RV with the black tank valves open, I hope?
  25. I take it that you have a total of 4 dump valves(2 valves each at 2 different connections) and of them 1 does not appear to be opening? Are you sure that the problem is the valve and not just bad tank level indications? Those indicators have a long history of showing full even after emptying the thanks due to the poor design used. It is possible that one of the valves isn't opening even when the remote operator is pulled out as they have a cable that reaches back to the valve stem and those can fail for a number of reasons. While it may be that you have "the plastic disc that was cut out when the bung was installed in the tank was left IN the tank", in all of my years I have heard tell of it from time to time but have never actually known anyone who experienced it. I would check the valve first, if you are sure that it really isn't emptying with bad indicators. Here is hoping that it is just the level indication!
