  1. Do you have a reliable multi-meter and are you familiar with troubleshooting? I would start by checking to see if the monitor is receiving any input signals. Silverleaf also has a forum which may prove to be helpful. The blue screen seems probable to me that the display is not receiving any video, but that is only a guess.
  2. Welcome to the Escapee forums! While we use temporary forwarding to send our mail to the Escapee mail service when we travel, we have not had a need to extend, even though it does clearly state that such is allowed. I suggest that you use the Email Us link and see if they can help.
  3. Both RVs that I have owned with ducted air had one common duct with both units emptying into it. Neither was from Forest River.
  4. So is State Farm now selling a policy with a fulltimer's clause? Be very careful as you don't want to discover a lack of coverage after a major loss.
  5. If you are still reading this, I'd welcome you to the Escapee forums! I would probably do pretty much as suggested by Poohbear, if you don't mind traveling on the interstate routes. That is the northern route as suggested by Google Maps. In Austin, our favorite place to stay is McKinney Falls State Park. If you choose to travel the southern route, (I-10) I am not aware of any great danger there and we have friends that regularly visit family in Lake Charles. It has probably been 10 years since we last traveled through that area.
  6. From the Florida Department of Revenue: You probably need advice from a real estate attorney.
  7. Stretching the limits of IRS rules is a good way to attract an audit.
  8. I wonder if she plans to return and see what has been suggested? Her profile indicates that she hasn't thus far.
  9. The answer to that probably depends mostly on which state you are in as each one has their own rules. Most states that I'm familiar with require that you occupy the property, but that may not be true where yo are,
  10. You may need to keep your WI domicile in order to keep insurance and possibly other benefits. Check with both employers before you burn any bridges.
  11. So will you be living and working in WI from the RV?
  12. Welcome to the Escapee forums! While I'm not a toy-hauler owner, I have been a follower of the RV world for a long time and toy- haulers do seem to be here to stay and a growing segment of the market. By far the majority of toy-haulers that I have seen in use have been fifth wheel versions but there are travel trailers and also motorhomes as well. In motorhomes I am only aware of two companies that are presently building a toy-hauler and that is the Newmar Canyon Star and the Thor Outlaw series. In class A coaches, I don't know of any diesel pushers that are new or recent, but there have been a few. Your concern about driving a large truck is something that I believe you need to deal with first as the required truck to tow a fifth wheel and that needed to tow a travel trailer are both determined by the length and weight of the trailers that you plan to tow. It requires just as much truck to tow a travel trailer as a fifth wheel if they are the same size and total weight.
  13. From Investopedia.... Most states have sales tax to help generate revenue for its operations - but five states currently have no sales tax: Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon.Jan 22, 2020 As of 2019, seven states—Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming—levy no personal income tax. Two others, New Hampshire and Tennessee don’t tax wages.

  15. Do you plan to keep your domicile in VA, or move it to a different state? If you plan to change states, FL is probably going to be your best choice. As far as "affordable" health insurance, that is pretty subjective as what number that is depends on the income of the person shopping. Since most work-camping jobs are not very high pay, I'd expect that number to be difficult to find, even in FL where there are more insurance companies that sell policies there than is the case in most other good choices of domicile for an RVer. Affordable health care is probably the most difficult problem to overcome for most people going fulltime who are not eligible for Medicare.
  16. Welcome to the forums! It is great having you here with us. You haven't said where you are located but since you are in TX, there are two banks in Livingston who I have been told are quite competitive for business from Escapees members so you may want to try them. I would also check with the place where you currently bank and with any other financial institution that you do business with. 17. They came from the commercial member directory. It would seem that first one has dropped his website. As to Farmers, some agents offer health insurance but I don't know about all of them. The one we deal with does so. EDIT: I just reported the broken link in the directory.
  18. Does State Farm now offer fulltimer coverage on an RV? The didn't some years back when I checked with them. I suggest that you try one of these companies that are well rated by members of these forums. AIS insurance............ I have been with them for 20 years. Miller Insurance Explorer Insurance RV Advantage insurance All of these companies have been mentioned many times on the Escapee forums and all have much experience in dealing with people who live and travel in an RV full-time.
  19. I just heard this story reported on the TV news so found this report on the internet. NTSB Rules Autopilot was Probable Cause of Fatal 2018 Tesla Model X Crash

  21. I don't think that I'm up for the amount of prep work that you did!
  22. There are some interesting thoughts expressed in this thread. I am sure that it also reflects the wide range of experiences we have all had. Part of the answer to what financial institution will serve you best is keyed to which services you need or will use. It has been my experience that very often the best lender is not the best place to keep your checking account and yet another facility may offer the best savings plans. Since the 1990's there are banks that offer brokerage services and investment firms that offer banking services. With banking laws somewhat relaxed, there are even some cases where the two have merged. We consolidated everything into a single, national firm that is a merged bank/investment firm which is multinational and have had excellent services for more than 20 years. Other than credit cards, we do all of our financial business with that firm. To me the important point to be gained from this thread is that each person needs to examine their needs and shop which firm will best serve those needs. I doubt that anyone has a best financial institution that will meet the needs of everyone, Since I have no need for a car loan, I really don't care if the firm that I use has poor service for them or if they even make such loans. If I were considering a change I would make a list of all financial services that I use and then look for a place that does a good job of supplying my needs.
  23. That is a very interesting idea! I am not aware of anyone who has done this, but it may be that it has been. I hope that you will come back and update us about what you find and your progress in accomplishing it.
