  1. No matter who buys them or what their reasons may be, it is the early buyers of any new technology who pay the way for the improvements in technology and economies of scale that in time bring new products into the marketplace for the average customer. As attractive as they are at this time, for the more typical RV owner the cost isn't justified.............. yet! Given time and market penetration I am sure that they will take over, unless the newer sodium technology takes over the market based on a lower cost.
  2. Since my 2003,Dodge/Cummins is paid for and running strong, I doubt I'll be buying one of them anytime soon but I have read some interesting reviews. From Motor Trend.... 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Review:
  3. Thanks, Ray! I had not seen that but when we went through seasonal ranger training in 2008 they brought in several live pythons to make sure that all of us would be able to identify them if seen. The picture that I posted was taken at the Shark Valley visitor center area and that snake weighed more than 200#.
  4. Are you looking at a new or used RV?
  5. Have you checked the age of the tires? They will get weak from old age long before they are worn out and with that few miles yours may be the original ones put on. I strongly recommend that you check the DOT code dates on all of your tires before you start such a long trip at highway speeds. If they are more than 7 years old they may fail soon. This example (LMLR5107) the tire was manufactured in the 51st week of 2007.
  6. That is part of what I was thinking also. Any filter will restrict air flow and more so as it collects gunk. Some of the deadening materials associated with the ducting might also but it is difficult to give much opinion without ever having seen the kit. To me it looks very expensive for something so completely unknown. I'd really like to hear from someone who has installed one and used it for an extended time.
  7. In my 30+ years as a tech, a circuit breaker failing is very unusual and what you have told us indicates that this was pretty sudden. It wouldn't hurt to try swapping it with another if you have 2 that are the same rating, but I wouldn't hold much likelihood of that doing anything for you. Did you do the compressor check suggested by Denny? If you did verify voltages and make sure there was no short to direct ground, there is a good probability that it will prove to be a capacitor since that is one of the more common problems with RV air conditioners. Part of the problem is that most of us have very little air conditioning troubleshooting experience, even though we may have worked on RVs for years. That is partly because RV air conditioners don't usually give much problem and most of us don't have access to very much technical information or schematics for them. If you check with Bryant RV Service website, he does have 1 Dometic heat pump service manual posted there. I suggest that you visit and download a copy as it may prove to be quite helpful. On pages 81 & 82 the troubleshooting addresses what seems to be your problem. Another YouTube that may help is in this link.
  8. Looking at their explanations I think it would reduce the air flow.
  9. To really trouble shoot the problem you need a clamp on ammeter. If I were to guess based on what little we know I probably would try the start capacitor.
  10. I found nothing about only issuing it for a motorhome there. Most motorhomes have fairly large fuel tanks but those of us who tow a trailer with a diesel pickup truck typically have a tank of 35 gallons or so.
  11. I don't know of any class A with 3 slides that is less than 28' which Winnebago has. At least in looking at the manufacturer websites I didn't find any. You are wise to consider the weights and also look at the weight distribution. Our gas powered class A was driver side heavy and so I had to load all or our heaviest possessions to the passenger side for good handling. If the coach you are looking at does not have weight information you need to get it before you put any money down. It is good to take one through a truck scale to at least have accurate axle and total weights to compare to the gross weight(GVWR).
  12. TSD Logistics is a trucking company and it seems that they are selling their fuel discounts to the public as a secondary service. That makes me wonder just a bit if the fuel sellers will eventually object to that marketing to those of us who buy our diesel in smaller quantities? I have considered one but my diesel truck only has a 35 gallon tank. If there is a minimum size fuel purchase, I was not able to find it. Does anyone know if there are other trucking companies who do this?
  13. Welcome to the Escapees RV Club forums! We will help all that we are able bo please do let us know if the answers that we give are of any help. Here are links to several insurance agencies that have very good reputations in the fulltime RV community. I strongly suggest that you contact 2 or 3 of them to compare. RV Advantage AIS Insurance Specialists Miller RV Insurance Foremost Insurance Explorer Insurance Thum Insurance Agency All of these have experience writing coverage for folks who live in an RV and travel as their only home and will understand what you need.

  15. Which is the same as most, if not all such services. The address you get from them becomes your legal address.
  16. We stayed at Circus Circus until they got rid or their RV park, then moved to Sam's and after that to Arizona Charlie's, where we have stayed on our most recent visits there. Now that I think of it, I believe that it has been close to 10 years since we last spent time there. It is good to see that Charlie is still on your list.
  17. Have we been helpful or were you thinking of some other type of suggestion?
  18. What sort of bank is this? I am aware of both federal and state chartered banking. If you are thinking of the address requirements resulting from laws since 9/11, they apply to all financial institutions including brokerage firms. It would appear that the person asking has not been back to see what responses he has had.
  19. A major part of the wildlife in cities in the US is that as we build houses in what used to be natural areas we destroy the food sources of the animals living there. Our son in Carrollton, TX (Dallas suburb) lives where the yard backs on an electric transmission right of way. He took pictures of a bobcat walking on their privacy fence about two weeks ago. It appeared to be stalking some squirrels. When we volunteered with Everglades NP in 2008/9 they were actively working to track and remove pythons with some success but i is a growing problem. We were told that the swamp rabbits are expected to soon be extinct due to the growing population of pythons. This picture is one from the visitor area that we worked in while we were there.
  20. We often have discussions here on the forums about wildlife issues when RVing, particularly when you camp in remote, off the beaten path areas, and it seems to be getting common for home owners in US cities to report issues with those critters attacking our pets, but an Escapee friend who lives in Australia sent me the link to this story, with the comment that we should not complain. Take a look at this one! Father saves four-year-old son from enormous scrub python in Airlie Beach
  21. Please tell us more as I know someone who is looking into a reverse mortgage.....

    Window cranks

There should be a manufacturer's name somewhere on the windows. If you can locate that name you could try searching for parts made by them. Very few RV builders make their own windows. One of the most frequently used brands is Hehr Windows and they do sell parts.
  23. For an RV? They do not make windows for RVs, only for stick houses.
  24. I use Gas Buddy and also have the app on my phone. Also limit your speed as most large vehicles have a speed at which they are most fuel efficient and in general it will be somewhere around 50 or 60 mph. Every 5 mph increase in speed above that point will generally increase fuel consumption by approximately 10%. With our motorhome I used to cruise at about 60 mph. With my current diesel truck and trailer it seems to do best around 55 mph.
