  1. I don't really think that anyone intended to make disparaging remarks about you but only to make suggestions. Written responses sometimes come over differently than intended. My one question would be if you have shopped a wide range of both class C and class A rigs? My own preference has been with the class A but I have known others who prefer the class C and that is OK. The location of the waste tanks is something to consider if you expect to go into rough roads when boondocking. That can be a problem with many models of RV so be sure to check it before you buy.
  2. Ed your experience with drug coverage is exactly the same as my own. I take 2 tier one prescription drugs as maintenance and neither one are expensive or uncommon. My premium for the Humana/Walmart part D has bee $20.70 for 2019 and recently got notice that it would be $56 for 2020. I have already signed up with a new part D from Well Care that has a premium of $13.30. All plans then cover drugs based on a schedule of rates for each drug tier. Some have no deductible at all for tier 1, while with Humana I was charged $3 for each of the drugs I take. As the tier level goes up (from 1 to 5 I believe) the amount paid by the patient to the pharmacy each time it is renewed increases. Most companies do have a deductible that is based on the tire level a drug falls into and the amount charged for each tier is not the same from one insurance company to the next. It is the tier level pricing that makes it so difficult to determine what drug coverage (part D) you will get the lowest out of pocket from. In my wife's case, it takes a great deal of math to determine because she takes a total of 9 different prescription drugs and some are tier 1, some tier 2 and one of them is tier 3. Because tire 3 usually has a high out of pocket charge from any plan that has a low monthly premium, you need to balance the total out of pocket, including premiums and prescription costs for the entire year between the drug plans that you consider. My former employer provides us with that service but there are companies available to assist you in doing this.
  3. We tried it also and while it might be worth the effort if you know the route well or during high traffic periods, we just time or transits through El Paso and stay with I-10, but I am quite used to driving on high traffic volume interstate highways so if you are not, then the alternate route may be of more value.
  4. It was on the Dallas news yesterday also. Nothing really new and mostly the sheriff's news conference.
  5. If you consider the starting currents and all RVs, that is certainly not a valid statement.

If you use the right materials it will also help to eliminate engine heat from the cab as well. I added insulation to our gas class A, using Thermo-Tec materials from Amazon.
  7. If there is a toll road in the El Paso area I have never encountered it. What you will have there is traffic that is a mess unless you arrive in the middle of the night. I have traveled between Demming and Van Horn many times and I just try to time my passage through the area on a light traffic day and I avoid the rush hour traffic. Sunday morning seems to be the best time that we have passed through.
  8. The other thing that I'd point out is that there is probably nowhere that any of us spend time that an occasional murder or other crime has not taken place. Statistically RV life is one of the lowest lifestyles in crimes committed. In this era of instant news access from everywhere it seems like there are far more murders than 20 years ago because we hear about nearly all of them, but in reality the amount of crime for the number of people involved remains very low. Staying safety aware is wise, but living in constant fear will gain you nothing. When RVing your biggest danger is driving our highways and when staying in the RV the most common danger is fire.
  9. I don't understand what the problem is since a mail service address is legal for use in Florida? If the problem is a financial company, there is an alternative clause to the patriot act requirement where you can use the fixed address of a relative as the alternate one and your mail service for things being mailed to you. As to the idea of using the Escapee address and not the Escapee Florida address, you would need to call the office to be sure, but I'd be very surprised if they were to say yes because they would have no record of who you are or what your address might be in the office there. Anything sent to you at that address would probably be returned. In addition, the agency refusing your mail service would probably refuse the Escapee address also since it would show up as a business address, just as the mail service that you are using now does.
  10. Several reasons. Closer to the sons, and an opportunity to sell for cash. We are now in one of the "age in place" communities with all sorts of senior services. We are in independent living but when needed or desired, meals are available if desired, as is assisted living, rehab facilities, gym & pool, and many other services. Pam has been doing pretty well but she has a degenerative health issue so we felt the time had come.
  11. And you have to be aware all of the time, everywhere you go.
  12. Go to All Settings............ Ease of Access....................Cursor & Pointer.... You should find the color & size controls there.
  13. We have recently moved and are in process of finding new doctors. Just last week we were told by a doctor's group that they do take a limited number of Medicare patients, but that they do not accept Medicare Advantage. Finding doctors who accept any form of Medicare is difficult in the Dallas, TX area.
  14. I am unable to locate a full set of specs on that year model but from all that I can find it would seem that you should do fine in the Reno area unless they experience unusually cold weather. How long do you expect to stay there? If it will be an extended stay you should plan to skirt it in order to keep cold winds out from under it, but as long as you keep the interior warm you should be OK.
  15. It has been a while since I had any contact with them, but the Bennett Law Office in Missoula, MT used to be quite well known in the RV community for such services and for their solid advice. When I looked into it they advised me that it would not save enough to justify the cost and work. That advice was not billed for either.
  16. Dinosaur Electronics also has replacement Onan circuit boards as well as those for most refrigerators, water heaters and furnaces.
  17. I don't believe that you do.. I know someone who financed through them and is only a seasonal traveler with a stick house that they live in about 9 months a year. But they are fulltimer friendly.
  18. Welcome to the Escapee forums. I don't really know what you mean by "classified full-timer" but to most of us it means that you live in an RV and do not own or rent any other housing. Alliant Credit Union has an association with the Escapees and has a very good reputation. My suggestion would be that you check with whatever financial organization that you have a relationship with now as well and do some interest rate comparison. Most RV dealerships also have ties to lenders and sometimes are able to get better rates than you may on your own. Loans are a very personal thing as there are many factors that play into the availability.
  19. That is good news. Looks like common sense will win this one.
  20. Welcome to the Escapee forums! Reno in December will probably have below freezing temperatures most nights but warm into the 40's or 50's. It is possible that you could experience much colder weather as it has been below 0°F but not often. Your RV should be acceptable for the temperatures that you will experience as long as you keep temperatures inside at comfortable levels but without knowing more about the RV and the model year one has to guess what you have.
  21. Welcome to the Escapee forums! This thread is pretty old so you may need to start a new one with your question, but I'll do may best to help and perhaps others will join in. The problem of the water tank getting full when connected to city water is probably that the pump is leaking back as it normally acts as a check valve when not in operation and yours seems to leak back. That can be resolved quite easily by adding a check valve to the water line between the tank and the pump. If you tank fill valve is open when not connected to city water that would cause your water pump to run continuously or if just leaking it would cause the pump to cycle on and off. The reason is that it then allows water that is drawn from the tank to be pumped into the water system, then to pass through the leaking fill valve and then return to the top of the water tank. Let us know if anything suggested here should help you.
  22. That and a nice income for the CARE center. Sad....
  23. Welcome to the Escapee forums! We live in Mesquite. ☺️
