  1. I had that sort of problems also. I was chastised for posting a link to an Escapee thread and later for quoting the Escapees magazine. I was told by one of their moderators that they don't want "another shill for the Escapees."
  2. Someone should point the IRV2 thread to Mobile Internet Resource Center as it seems they are not aware of it.
  3. Welcome to the Escapee forums and thank you for taking the time to post that information!
  4. I agree with both of the 2 preceding posts. It is possible that the problem was caused by moisture or even dirt, but the odds of it staying resolved are not great.
  5. Take your time and follow the guide carefully as one doesn't need a bunch of degrees to troubleshoot and be good at it. From what you have told us you seem to be doing well with what you have done so far so just take your time and go as far as you are comfortable. It has been my experience that many RV service folks are very weak in electrical troubleshooting so it will be good to know as much as possible before you visit any service shop.
  6. Generac may well support their authorized service people more than the end-users. Many RV equipment vendors operate that way, possibly to protect the authorized dealers & their service departments.
  7. The Generac Diagnostic & Repair Manual is located on the site of Bryant RV. This one is actually from Generac and not a generic manual.
  8. How & wher did you measure the 6V followed by 160V? Were you measuring between L1/L2 and neutral? Using a good digital meter, I assume? If those readings between L1 & L2 were in the times of 6V & 160V then it would sound like John is right about the two legs being in phase and not set for 240V. I have very little experience with a Generac but here is a copy of the service manual. On page 4 of that manual, it mentions that the voltage from the generator before field boost is 7 - 12V, which may be what you are first observing. On page 5 it addresses the configuration of single or dual voltage. Starting on page 19 there is a troubleshooting flowchart, but you really need to have a frequency meter to do the tests. Starting on page 27 are a series of diagnostic tests.
  9. As a career electrical tech I have to agree. A floating neutral only impacts the voltage when under load and the total voltage of the two legs added together would be 240V. If you measured 160V between each leg and neutral it isn't a floating ground and the generator voltage control is the most likely cause. If you have the means to do so, check the frequency as well since the generator running too fast might cause the high voltage but it would also increase the frequency. Are we correct to assume that you had proper voltage in the past and this is a new problem?
  10. The yellow powder is the chemical from the refrigerant that is left behind when the ammonia and water components have evaporated. It indicates that your cooling unit has leaked the refrigerant out and must be replaced. How old is the refrigerator? It might be just as well or perhaps better to just replace the refrigerator.
  11. You still don't get it.....not my statement. That link is the site Harvest Hosts...
  12. That is for the first year of membership in Harvest Hosts. 🙄
  13. Our $79 membership fee pays for itself in just one night.
  14. There are several possible causes of this but vent problems are always the root since a proper vent prevents any buildup of air pressure inside of the waste tank. It could be that the vent pipe is plugged up in some way, or it may also be that the vent pipe was not properly anchored and has slipped down into the tank. Is your tank nearly empty? If not, try emptying it and see if that helps.
  15. Offhand, I can't think of any travel trailers that have a single axle with dual wheels. Having 2 axles and tandem wheels not only increases the weight carrying capacity, but it also improves handling and control because tandem axles increase the ground & aft as it travels over rough roads. I can't recall ever having seen dual wheel configured tires on any fifth wheel either, while 3 axles are becoming more common with the increased length and weight, especially with toy haulers.
  16. Thanks to all of you for posting links to those articles. Actually two of them I had previously seen but had lost the links to. I especially like the one from RVCG as it addresses both types of towing. The other factor that can have a great impact on the handling when towing a small travel trailer is the issue of 1 axle or 2 axles. Because it costs less, the lower priced, short, lite weight travel trailers typically come with only 1 axle but handling is much improved for the same towing combination if the trailer has 2 axles because of the effect the trailer rocking has on the tow vehicle. The second axle lessens that effect.
  17. Longer Is Safer To a great degree, this is also true for the wheelbase of a vehicle that tows a trailer RV. While I have never seen a formula for determining the proper ratio between tow vehicle wheelbase and trailer length, there really should be one. I can assure you that even when towing a small travel trailer, the longer & heavier the tow vehicle is the less impact wind and road conditions have on the handling.
  18. Welcome to the Escapee forums! I thought our current travel trailer was small! 🤪
  19. Welcome to the Escapee forums! A great deal will depend on where you choose to go as some spots a very popular while others have little use. The other issue is what you want in a site. Most of the areas listed as campgrounds will have designated camping sites, which does limit the number of users and the space that each has but there are also areas that are not designated and in busy periods you could find it much like staying in a parking lot. With Memorial Day weekend being one of the busiest times of the camping season, I would suggest that you go where you can get reservations, just to be sure that you have a place to stay which you can enjoy for your first trip there.
  20. With 6 months having passed since the last post, I'd try creating a new thread to see if that doesn't get better response.
  21. Welcome to the Escapee forums. There is no need to apologize for anything. I suggest that you need to spend some time reading to understand the domicile issue since it really isn't just a matter of choosing where to pay your taxes. I suggest starting with the article "The Issue of Domicile." There are many others available but this should be very helpful. Be very careful on this issue and be sure to read the entire loan document before you sign anything as loans can be callable if you change your address. If that is the case it will be written somewhere in the loan document. Choosing your domicile based on the cheapest place can be poor planning. Have you considered the other legal aspects that are based on your place of domicile? Florida may well be your best and most valid choice but you should not make that decision based only on cost and convenience. Things like estate law, jury service, and a long list of other issues should be considered.
  22. Under the awning, but I only do small projects when on the road for many reasons. I have built and installed cabinets or shelves in our RV, made a few wooden toys for kids, and things of that sort. I don't build furniture or anything of that sort. Since we do a lot of volunteer for RV site positions, I often have access to a woodshop. With only two of us, it is very easy for us to eat at the picnic table while my scroll saw is clamped to the other end of it.
  23. Your owner's manual should address towing, even though it may not call it flat towing. According to REMCO towing equipment, it can be towed with no modification.
  24. Deb & Mike, is there anything more that we can help you with?
  25. Welcome to the Escapee forums. As a suggestion, in the future, you probably should start a new thread in situations like this as the one you tagged on to is old enough that not everyone reads it. Happy to have you join us, but sorry it took problems to bring you here. 😊
