The Class-less Class

Recommended Posts

I'm sitting in my membership park trying to make four days worth of food last a week so I don't have to unhook and move twice in one week since my time is up here the 7th. I don't mind going to the bar to eat lunch but their food is not THAT good. They do sell some food in the store here but the selection is not wonderful; wonder how long I can live on chicken noodle soup?

Linda

Don't be silly girl! Go get food. Surely there must be someone there who you can hitch a ride into town with.

Chicken noodle soup is great but not sure for a week-long diet. Go shopping!

Being at the Scottsdale Elks for almost a month we finally moved. One night was spent in the Camping World lot and now we're at the American Legions. We didn't get "out of Dodge" as planned. Maybe Monday ???

I have some canned chicken to add to the soup. Almost forgot I bought it. Maybe should do an actual inventory to see how much food I really have? Lots of potatoes, I know that.

Eat your heart out Linda. I just got back from dinner at the LoW presidents rig. She fixed Pork chops, dressing, California veggies, sweet potatoes, grilled toast, wine and Boston cream pie. I'm still licking my lips. I know. I'm and old meany.

I got my taxes sent off today. It feels good to get them out of the way. Beautiful warm day today.

I went down to the bar to get one of their Sunday breakfast boxes today. Ham, eggs, potatoes, Danish, juice. I don't get the coffee or champagne. I ate the eggs, Danish and some of the potatoes for breakfast. I'll eat the ham and the rest of the potatoes with some fruit for lunch. Two meals for $5.17. Took my last two steaks out of the freezer to thaw. Still haven't done my food inventory but I think I'm going to make it. But, if Terry & Jeri do make it here we can sure go out to eat. :)

I got my truck all hooked up and ready to pull my trailer over to Jimmy's RV shop in the morning to do my yearly maintenance. Things like pack the wheel bearings and check the caulking.

This noon I took a cowgirl out to lunch at the adobe deli. I met this gal 5 years ago at the Balloon fiesta in Albuquerque. A couple of weeks latter I was at Carlsbad caverns, down in the great room. I was going around the cat walk one way and she was going the other way. When we met we recognized each other in the dark, talked a while, then agreed to meet for lunch when we got back to the surface. After lunch we went our seperate ways. We haven't met again in the past 5 years. When I got here in Deming she was here and we recognized each other immediately. It's a small world. Today the conversation was very interesting at lunch.

Finally did my food inventory and I have enough to last until my leaving day here. Apparently I buy tuna and salmon every time I go to the store. But Terry & Jeri did pull in yesterday so we may go out to eat anyway. I still have more money than food, I think. And I sure do like to have other people do my cooking. (Hi, Toni.) Jeri says she's not cooking for me so we'll go out if we decide to share a meal or two.

We had hoped to ride the water taxi today down to the new Pirate's Den. Evidently business wasn't as expected. They are no longer in business. So, we got busy on cleaning out all the cupboards, drawers, closets and under the bed!! Believe me that's no fun. However, someone had to do it. I had to let Linda know I wasn't going to cook for her like Toni did even if she provided all the food! We'll certainly plan on a meal or two out (Tuesday??).

We have decided to hang out here in Overton as long as we can. No one seems to care that we outstay our 8 day limit. Locals tell us it doesn't matter unless the refuge is full. The weather is perfect now. We would rather hightail it back at the end of the month than have to find another place as good as this. This might be our favourite place ever. Truly.

I took the rig in to pack the wheel bearings and have the breaks checked while the wheels were off. We found all sorts of trouble like cracked pads, badly scored drums, worn magnets and you name it. I opted to just replace everything. The only original parts left are the axels. We figured the cost both ways i.e. turn drums, change pads. There was only $8 per wheel difference and we probable made that up in labor time. The gas props for the back door on the truck didn't come in. Jimmy told me to just wait till he called for me to come bach in for the props and pay for everything at that time. Hows that for trust.

Well, we are at the end of our visit with carol's nephew in New Orleans. We have had a great time here and ate way too much food. Yesterday we were down in the south part near the gulf and called Ed % Linda Lavin to see if they were still at the casino. Yes they were and the casino they were at was only about 5 miles from us, so we dropped in. We all went to the Boomtown casino buffet, which had a 7.77 special on Tuesday so that was a great deal. We had a nice time catching up and I hope all y'alls ears were burning, because we talked about everybody! It had been two years since we had last been together at Las Vegas. Our group sure does get around. We are heading out in the morning toward McKinney, Texas to get new MCD shades put in the bus. Our old shades are starting to look dingy, and the front curtains need replacing, so we decided to go the MCD route. We are going to try and hook up with Mary Jane Finley while we are in the area too. The only problem I have is how to get out of this RV park. We have to make a U turn just after we exit, and the road is too narrow to do it so we are mapping a trail through an adjacent business that might work. I'm going to drive it in the truck tomorrow morning before we hook up to see if it will work. They have way too many roads around here and no place to put them, so they stack a lot of them which makes driving here very interesting. Well got to take a Steve ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hope to see you!

On the move again. Spent last night at Walmart in Natchitoches, LA. We had an interesting night because we canned strawberry jam and had fresh shrimp for dinner. We were trolling for shrimp (don't know if that's the way to catch them), but all I did was drive through a small town and hold a $5 bill out the window and I caught a couple of pounds of them. Hmmmmmm Then we came on some people selling strawberries and had to buy a whole flat of them, so we stopped at Walmart, got canning jars and now we have a lifetime supply of strawberry jam. Toast anyone!!

Leaving North Ranch this weekend. Heading for Glendale AZ for a couple of weeks then into Pinyon CA for Passover. Probably return to AZ in April for more medical treatment. Have a cool place to stay in Glendale. Friends there have a good shop in the garage so I'll pull some routine maintenance while I'm there, adjust brakes, nut and bolt check, etc.

Don't forget the nut behind the steering wheel.

Freddie and Delcie, I read your post. I'll call this afternoon.

Everyone: I've been real busy running from the cowgirls and getting my rig worked on so I can make an escape. I just paid for one more week's rent and will go New Mexico State Park hopping when my rent runs out on the 14th. It's too early to head back east. I might run into Steve and Carol and I suspect what ever he has might be catching.
