Wanderin
Have had to sit on runways for hours with de-icing but never letting someone off and getting baggage. I don't like flying places where de-icing may be required over and over again. I usually avoid it if I can. The temperature in Manitoba got as low as -30*C (which is where F and C* are the same). For those of you who fly regularly, have you ever had this happen? The Calgary airport was very busy and our plane missed the queue for de-icing. So we were late, about an hour late at that time. One hour turned to 2 hours when a young lady demanded to be let off the plane. She said it was too late and wanted to fly the next day. They let her!!! Consequently they had to get her luggage off too! So that took another hour. Then we had to get de-iced again. So we ended up being more about 3 hours late. We got to bed at 2:00 am. It's so good to be home!! Ugh! Sorry it turned out to be such an irritating flight. Onthego
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!! It's COLD here in Texas. Saw 18 degrees this morning and San Antonio went 40 hours straight under 32 degrees until noon yesterday. Suppose to be back to normal by the weekend (60's). Hope the rest of you are warm. Just might be in AZ next year at this time. Travel safe everyone. steved44
We had a great time at the Porters Party Place and it was finally over yesterday. It was quite a site as we had 4 rigs surrounding their house plus one of theirs that had to be moved to get everyone out. We had double fun because our first RV was there too. Randy and Liz bought our Allegro bus (BessyBus 1) and also joined up with our group, so we can keep up with our old friend. She's still going strong. We got back to Yuma with no problems, but later on in the evening it all went downhill. I was just getting ready for bed when i developed a nose bleed. I had one like this about 18 years ago and still have PSD from it. Wound up in the emergency room at 1:00am and that was a complete zoo. They had only one ER doctor on duty and the waiting room was packed. Some had been there over 8 hours and still hadn't seen the doctor. I did manage to get a nurse to help me, but still could not get the bleeding stopped all the way. We finally left about 5:00am and by 10:00 finally got it to stop. I remember IYQ had a episode with that in Demming and it was hard to stop his too. Now we were worn out and finally got some rest and all seems to be ok. They definitely need more doctors employed at the Yuma hospital. Now it's time to watch a OKC Thunder game and vege out! The ER doctor must have been a horse doctor. I had to see a specialist to correct his treatment. Instead of swapping war stories, we can swap nose stories. I hope I never have that again and hope you don't either. Quote Just Wanderin' On a permanent vacation! http://blog.willywagon.net
Onthego
Wow Steve what an ordeal. Glad you are ok now. We are staying by the Guadalupe River. In the summer there is lots and lots of tubers, winter it's fishing (they stock the river). Yesterday afternoon I was letting Cali (the dog) run and play along the river. Suddenly she started yelping, I ran to see what had happened. She had a fish hook in her lip on the right side. We ended up rushing her to the vet. They had to put her out to remove it. She was out of it most of last night but is back to her old self this morning. Glad she didn't swallow it. Normal temps around here are the low 60's for this time of year and we should be back there by the weekend. Guess a year ago it was in the 70's. Can't wait to get and stay warm. Travel safe everyone. Onthego
OMG! It's cold here near San Antonio. We had some sleet and freezing rain yesterday and the Weather channel says right now it's 19 and feels like 7. Suppose to back in the 70's by the weekend. We haven't spent a winter here until this year and others that come here yearly say this has been the coldest winter they've seen. The electric heaters are have been on full blast for the last day and a half. Today's high is forcast to be 41. If it wasn't for the house build we'd be a Arizona. It's warmer in a house than an rv. Also suppose to go to Bandera with a camping group this weekend. After sitting in one place for so long (3 months) I hope the slides work. LOL! Travel safe everyone. palamine
Well, brrr, I left our peg in Winnipeg. We were back in Casa Grande until Sunday when we decided to cut our route to Deming in half and went just to Tucson. Overnight at Casino de Sol and now we are in Deming. The wind enroute was terrible. Between the wind and the trucks we were pulled/pushed to the shoulder a few times. We are at Hidden Valley Ranch RV which is way out of town but....the price...$12.81 a night with Passport America and the WiFi is $2.00 a day. What a deal. We haven't really been able to check it out yet. We are getting our Steer Safe installed first thing this morning. We are anxious to see whether it works as well as everyone tells us. We'll let you know. PS Freddy tells us how far you are from here and we may come for a visit. palamine
We are at Jim Kortsen County Park just down the road from Casa Grande. We are missing the folks that joined us here last year at this time. We have come back because we are still waiting for a parcel that should have come to Rovers' Roost ages ago. It's peaceful and quiet here and the sunset will be right out our front window. Also 90+ channels on our antenna. After this, Yuma for a few things including a couple more solar panels. Loving this life. palamine
Hmm, not much action here. Maybe everyone is posting on the 2008/2009 site. We have changed our plans and are staying in the US as long as we can. We won't cross over until March 12th. We are in Bakersfield now. We arrived yesterday in glorious sunshine. This morning it is sort of raining but I doubt it will last. We had oranges from the tree outside our door for breakfast and we are going to celebrate Valentine's Day at a restaurant the park recommended. Happy Lover's Day friends. Onthego
Hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day. I did. Our builder says maybe 60 days before they are done but we think it will be less. Running power and water to the house now. The schedule says the house is about 85% done. Still hope to be moving in by April 1. Since mid December there have been more days below average temperatures than above. Average is around 65. Lots of cloudy days, It's been ugly at times. Some days remind me of the Oregon coast. Gray, drizzling - Yuck. May be in Arizona next winter. Travel safe everyone. palamine
I will make this post because our forum blurbs are getting so far down the page. This morning we move further up the Oregon Coast. Yesterday was the first sunny, non-rainy day since we got here but we hope there will be more on our northerly trek. Next stop Lincoln City. RVers are not being welcomed at the casino so we have reservations at the KOA. We will have a day trip to the aquarium and do some shopping at the outlet mall. Then a very short hop to Cannon Beach/Seaside. Next Monday afternoon, we will cross over and start our Spring/Summer plan. We have a few things in mind.
