dosbeagles
I am trying to figure out how a manufacturer determines the GVWR. Is it the sum of the axle weight ratings and the pin weight or is there some other mysterious formula? Thanks in advance for your help. If you are asking because you are going to build a trailer, Big5er has your answer. If are you just want to know how most trailer RV's come up with the GVWR, it usually is the gross axle weight plus the hitch weight. That is why you see trailers with a 2 axle setup of 7000 pounds each coming up with a GVWR of around 16,000-17,000 pounds. 14,000 for axle and 2000-3000 for hitch.
