agesilaus
RV Newsletter Looks like they want to cut the discount on upcharges to the camping fee. But the big problem is cutting the discount all together during peak season. Pay full charges all summer long? Don't like it, now is the time to call your senators and congressmen: House: (352) 732-1313 Senate: (202) 224-3121 Calls are the most effective but you can email them too, just write your own email don't use a form letter. I'm not sure if this applies to Access Passes too.

mesa
Just emailed the AZ Senators and Congressman Dear Senator XXX, I understand that the federal government is proposing changes in the National Parks system that reduces or eliminates the benefits to seniors who have purchased a “senior pass” to enter the parks. I am asking you to oppose any moves that eliminate this small but very precious perk to retired Americans. Please protect our senior pass benefits! Kirk W
Quote Senior Pass Benefits Does my Senior Pass provide any discounts at Cooperating Association bookstores or gift shops that are located in the Federal Recreation sites? No. The Senior Pass does not cover discounts in on-site bookstores or gift stores. Does the Senior Pass include any discounts at Federal Recreation sites? At many sites the Senior Pass provides the pass owner a discount on Expanded Amenity Fees (such as camping, swimming, boat launching, and guided tours). What are the discount guidelines? The pass program is managed by six Federal agencies that operate under different regulations and have different fees. Therefore, the discount program for the Senior Pass is not handled in the same way on all Federal recreation lands. In general discounts are honored as follows Individual Campsites: The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. Campsites with Utility Hookups: If utility fees are charged separately, there is no discount. The discount may apply if the utility fee is combined (seamless) with the campsite fee. Group Campsites and Facilities: (including, but not limited to, group facilities, picnic areas or pavilions): There is no discount for group campsites and other group facilities that charge a flat fee. If the group campsite has a per person fee rate, only the pass owner receives a discount; others using the site pay the full fee. Guided Tours: The pass offers discounts on some guided tours. Only the pass owner receives a discount if one is offered. Ray,IN
Well Kirk, I cannot find that NPS webpage I had bookmarked again. The disability pass is now named the Access Pass, that website is current information as of August 31,2019. Where some of the confusion arises is due to, 5 Federal Agencies control the pass program. This FWS pdf answers many common questions: https://www.fws.gov/refuges/pdfs/AccessPass_PublicFINAL_100507.pdf The RVtravel website talks about the possibility of losing the 50% camping fee discount; some concessionaires were not honoring that many years ago, so nothing new.
