My typing skilled are lousy and SLOWWWW. I start to type something and before I complete a word or so I have changed my through process. Given I had phonics in the fifth grade from my worse teacher I still can't spell. But I can read other people writing and never realize anything is misspelled. So Glenn I didn't realize you made lots of errors. My eye specialist told me 2 years ago, 3-5 years on my cataract surgery. Last year, he said at least two more years, Month another appointment. Night driving on a divided highway no problem but about one left curve on a two lane highway can do me in with heavy on coming traffic. For prism in your eye glasses I have had that for 73 years and never saw double until recently and I wondered why, cataracts? Save your eyes, stay out of bright sunlight. Ray,IN
I don't give a thought to any mis-spelling or incorrect grammar on discussion forums, heaven knows I make as many as anyone. As to cataracts, I had that surgery on both eyes about 6 years ago. Best thing I every did but it now has a downside. I was very nearsighted, surgeon asked me if I wanted to see near or far, I said far, thinking my nearsightedness would remain. That is not the case, now i must wear reading glasses. A previous accident may have influenced that. A serious head injury about 10 years ago detached both retinas, requiring laser surgery on both eyes. GlennWest
Being you brought that up what is the latest greatest way to go. I don't like monvision which i have now from a previous lasik. Still needed glasses for anyting requiring precision work, like welding. Jaydrvr
I chose to have perfect distance vision in both eyes for my cataract surgery. I wear readers when needed, but otherwise I have the most amazing vision of my life. So happy I didn't try one of the other lens options. I've read about too many problems that were permanent. Jaydrvr
5 hours ago, GlennWest said: At what distance can you see well without readers? I'd say that anything less than 3 feet I need readers to read or see details. At about 6 feet, I can see good enough to manage. I'm guessing that beyond 10 feet is where the perfect vision kicks in. Actually, looking around the house here, it seems my vision is good from about 4 feet to infinity. It's good enough that I'm amazed Every. Single. Day. So thankful! Jaydrvr
20 minutes ago, GlennWest said: That would put me constantly in glasses. I'm sure that's true, but for what you do, I imagine that will be true regardless of the type of procedure you have done. At least my vision either way is perfect. I don't trust the multifocal lens industry. Too many historical problems and too many patients with permanently damaged vision. I think your vision will be so much better that you won't mind. But then, I'm not a welder, so I just don't know. Wish you the best possible outcome. Jay
GlennWest
Oh, I appreciate your input.Just a little disappointment after your post. I had lasik 2007. Monovision. One eye distance, one eye upclose. Still needed glasses for upclose constant reading. Also for welding needed both eyes up close so had special reading glassses to see. In isles in stores could'nt focus on shelfs. So went right back to glasses. I'm going to same dr that done my laski. He is one of the best in Houston. But what you describe is better than what I had. Well, good luck with whatever you decide. I've known friends with monovision who weren't really happy with their results. I know I wouldn't like that. I thought a long time and did a lot of research before deciding on this procedure. I had to get used to the readers because I've been nearsighted all my life, but more than a year later, I'm well over a 100% delighted with the long term results. I can finally see things on shelves and everything is clear all the time. And I can safely and comfortably drive at night!! Plus, I'm used to the readers now. Good luck!
