Twotoes
Many sports, NBA, March Madness, MLB etc have canceled or postponed their season, many attractions, Disney, Legoland, Bush Gardens, Universal Studios etc. have temporarily closed and now I have even heard that all Apple retail stores are closing. Will the Federal Government close the National Parks in the near future? I hope not, but if they don’t would go visit? Bingo! Caution is the key word, not panic. I like your list, alot of common sense and suggestions there. We are not on the road so it is a good time to continue, for us, to work on our home, paint, continue working on re-modeling. Soon as it warms up a few degrees, I will do some much needed work on our camper. Might put traveling out of state off a month or so. agesilaus
I saw a report, unconfirmed, that New Mexico parks have closed their campgrounds and so have at least some of the NM COE campgrounds. Quote EL PASO, Texas (KSTM) — Starting Monday, all New Mexico state parks will be closed in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has directed the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department to close all New Mexico state parks and cancel all events through April 9. The closure could be extended if needed. EMNRD sais there will be law enforcement presence at all parks to “ensure the protection of natural resources.” Visitors with overnight camping reservations will be issued a full refund. Looks like it is true. AZ is open: Quote Arizona State Parks and Trails is open for visitors! We are committed to providing a safe and healthy experience for our visitors and have campsites, cabins, and hiking trails open at more than 30 state parks across Arizona. We are monitoring the situation around COVID-19 and the impact of coronavirus for our state. Utah: Quote The Utah Division of Parks and Recreation takes the health and safety of our visitors seriously. At this time all 44 state parks remain open and fully operational. Nothing on the CO website. Cali is open. WA is open and that's all I'm checking. Nothing on the main COE website tho. One other thing I saw earlier: Canada is closing their borders, period. I agree completely. We were staying at a SKP co-op outside of Carlsbad when the government was shut down. But at other parks we visited after the Rangers were telling us about all of the destructive things people did. I almost wish they had cameras so they could have caught them and prosecuted them fully. And when they got out they would have to serve 1000’s of hours volunteering in the park that they mistreated. Maybe that would make them understand and appreciate the Park that they damaged. Mr. Camper
I received my weekly National Parks Traveler edition today and the story there is that the superintendents have been given the authority to close up facilities as necessary. The story was lengthy and you can go to their website for the complete details. Visitor facilities and services across the National Park System began closing Tuesday, hours after park superintendents were given the authority to do what they thought best to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the parks.
