Tcwndsr
Our summer volunteer job is on hold for the foreseeable future. Wondering if many others have workamping positions that have been cancelled or put in limbo. What is your Plan B? We will try to find a suitable place to settle in and possibly try to find temporary jobs helping out with the supply chain in some way. Kirk W
We do not have any planned for this summer but our friends who have been going to a COE campground in Minnesota for years have been told to come even though the campground will be closed. Twotoes
My volunteer position at Anderson Civil War Prison and POW Museum at Andersonville GA for the month of April was canceled because the entire area is closed including the Visitor Center, Prison and Cemetery. I have found a small Mom and Pop campground nearby to stay in for the month of April. I am scheduled to volunteer in Shenandoah NP in VA for May and June. They have me on hold and won’t be making a decision until the end of April. I am also scheduled to volunteer in Teddy Roosevelt NP in ND for July, Aug and Sept but haven’t called them yet. remoandiris
Our summer job in a CO commercial is still on. We're now in NM and will be at the park in 10 days or less. Something tells me the summer travel season may not be that busy. But if this virus gets kicked in a month or so, folks will want to travel and travel businesses will boom. MeanderMan
Like most, our summer volunteer position at an Idaho State Park is on hold. We're at a small private park on the Southern Oregon Coast for the duration, and in Oregon, volunteers that were at state parks are allowed to stay. The message from volunteers has been that they've been told they can do maintenance or do nothing at all; it's their choice. On the other had, state parks in Washington and Idaho have told their volunteers to leave. Another indicator of why Oregon State Parks have the best volunteer programs. jjwicklund
Not really concerned about traveling as we are secure in place and welcome to stay. Our summer gig is more than a month away. We were going to leave this coming Sunday but with our usual overnight stops closed, USACE parks, and everything closed near the daughter we'll just stay and play it by ear. With luck things will workout an we can get on with life. Quote John 2017 F350 King Ranch DRW 6.7 4.10 B&W hitch 2017 DRV MS 36RSSB3
mptjelgin
We were planning to hit the road this week, heading up to Northern Michigan for our summer volunteer gig. Nothing is going to happen in the next few weeks, and we are happy to stay put. We still hope to get up there, but both we and the agency are playing the "wait and see" game. Better safe than sorry. Twotoes
Many WalMart parking lots are being converted to drive thru testing areas. You may not be able to park there. Also shopping centers and casinos are closing and not allowing RV parking while they are closed so available parking is getting less and less available. Besides California's 14-page list of Stay At Home exceptions (which includes "Workers supporting cannabis retail and dietary supplement retail" on page 4), California is permitting private RV parks to stay open, although cities or counties may order them closed (per Campendium).
