We will stay with what we do you may chose differently. Rich and others, the original assessment that COVID19 was contact and droplet has been overcome as our research grows into the millions of cases. It is airborne, droplet, and contact. This is the latest science. Here's a link to more than a few articles so you can pick the one you like. Also they now know that the viral load determines the severity of infection aside from preexisting medical conditions. Micro droplets are what makes up the vapor you see from nose or mouth in cold weather when you see your breath. That carries the virus too and can float with infectious COVID19. So hanging a nose out can be as bad as no mask at all. If everyone is wearing a mask and maintains distance the viral load that gets out of the mask, (Yes some does) reduces the numbers of viruses expelled, and then the other person wearing one , both properly drop the chances of getting it quite a bit. Excerpt: "But researchers also proved that some of the droplets are a lot smaller than we initially thought. The water evaporates after these droplets are ejected from someone’s mouth, and they become aerosols that can float in the air for much longer than large droplets. Rather than landing immediately on surfaces, they can travel over greater distances so they’re much more dangerous than large droplets. An increasing body of research on the matter prompted 239 scientists to urge the World Health Organization (WHO) to acknowledge airborne transmission. The WHO did say there’s increasing evidence of airborne COVID-19 spread via aerosols, but it maintained its stance that droplet transmission is prevalent. The WHO stopped short of urging governments to institute measures for handling airborne transmission, which could include face mask mandates and changes to air ventilation indoors." RV_
Excerpt: "Moist Bodies Water makes up about 70 percent of the human body, which is the same percentage of water found on the Earth's surface. People's lungs are consequently very moist, and every breath that you expel is full of water vapor. You can test this for yourself by holding your hands up to your mouth and breathing into them. When you take your hands away, you'll be able to feel the moisture by rubbing them together. If you like to sleep with the covers over your mouth, you've probably noticed that the covers are damp in the morning. Condensation The temperature in the body is close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius), which is warm enough for the water in the lungs to exist as a gas. When the surrounding air is cold, however, the moisture in the air people breathe out begins to turn into tiny droplets of water. This process is called condensation, and it's the same process by which clouds form. The droplets are still light enough to float in the air, but they are large enough to be visible. These droplets form more quickly as the air temperature drops, and the cloud you see as you breathe out becomes bigger." RV_
I had to make an appointment to register my new car last week and I was given one for 2 pm yesterday, 24 July, 2020. Masks required and they have red tape outside, and to the check in desk just inside, 6 feet apart. MY bad luck is there was a strong breeze blowing from my back where there were three or four folks waiting too. I turned to see how many folks were in line and the guy behind me was two feet and violating my personal space when there was no corona virus. I made no excuses just politely pointed out the red tape for distancing. My exact words were "Hey bud they put tape out every six feet so we can stay safe. No thank you, or any words, but he did move back without acting out. When I got inside I was impressed. I've been there to register our other car and never really noticed their long counters have glass dividers for privacy and each chair sits normally in the middle and ten feet at least from either side. I was standing back, not sitting when I saw the closest DMV clerk put an orange construction wire flag so it could be seen and a worker with sanitizing solution wiped down the whole desk, chair, pen, and did it conscientiously! I felt much better, and glad for those measures with the death toll skyrocketing here and in Brazil and rising in the rest of the world with lesser numbers by far because their folks follow the orders on quarantine and masks. So folks it is much more infectious than originally thought. hemsteadc
Many strange shortages. First, the TP. Then coins. Now, aluminum, mainly having to do with pop cans. I can't find my favorite Pepsi beverage, but the shelves still look plenty well stocked with thousands of other aluminum cans. I guess Diet Pepsi caffeine-free isn't a top seller. It is not just soda, but beer also. This article suggests that the shortage is a combination of increased demand for cans due to the decrease in sales at restaurants, etc, and hording. Quote "Everyone who makes anything that goes into a 12-ounce can is being challenged to some respect," Adam Collins, Molson Coors' spokesperson, told CNN Business....Molson Coors, which sells brands like Blue Moon and Coors Light, shifted production in its portfolio away from smaller, slower-moving brands as a result of the can shortage, Collins said. Quote "Can supply is a big deal," said Paul Gatza, a senior vice president for the Brewers Association, the trade association representing America's craft breweries. richfaa
There is nothing we can do about the fact that the virus is here and is real. We can read articles all day on what to do or not to do to protect ourselves and others. We take the easy way out we wear gloves and the mask maybe that works maybe it doesn't but that is what we do.
