Kirk W
Without question, ID parks were one of the agencies that we were treated the best by, in our 30+ volunteer experiences. MeanderMan
We're long-time volunteers, and spent the last three years at Farragut State Park. Without doubt, the best state park we've ever hosted at. Great facilities and host sites, beautiful location, and exceptional volunteer coordinator. And with around 50 volunteers, the pot lucks are amazing! trostberg
I might check out some parks in my wanderings the next couple of months around Idaho for future reference. What parks would you recommend if I wanted to volunteer in Visitor Centers as a single. I prefer not to have alot of cleaning responsibilities Thanks for the info

It has an active Visitor Center and is an absolutely beautiful place to spend some time. Stop in and introduce yourself and ask to speak to the Volunteer Coordinator. Being there in person to inquire about volunteering gives you a step in. You may be offered a gig for the next season if they have already filled this season. That's how we got two of our favorite volunteer positions.... by talking to them in person. Good luck! We have only once had that become a problem, when a volunteer coordinator basically lied to us about what the duties would be. It was one of the two times that we left early. But I consider that two places that were less than satisfactory out of 34 that we have done to be pretty good odds. Quote Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... 2gypsies
In national parks there are no cleaning duties. They have paid employees doing it. We were offered a position in Big Bend National Park but declined it because it did require cleaning every third day. We spent time at 5 national parks where no cleaning of any kind was required of volunteers. Quote Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... gjhunter01
We just spent Nov in Co at a private RV park and our job was to clean the showers and bathrooms each day which was suppose to take 3 hours, but wife and I could get them all done in 45 min. It really was not a bad job and we would not be against doing it again now that we have tried it.
