sandsys
OK. So what types of things do you like to do? Are you looking for things to do in Vegas? Or places to boondock awhile along the way? Or one RV park in which to spend your time? Or potential long term parks to check out? Or...? Kirk W
While I am not the biggest fan of the desert, your choice of route could send you through Quartzsite, but the activities are winding down by March. We have spent several days there in late March several times and while the big gathering is pretty much gone, there is still activity and things to visit but with much more availability and few crowds. There are also several national wildlife refuges along the way if you are interested in those. We spent a winter at Imperial NWR once and there is much to see there. The Phoenix area also has much to offer and again the snowbirds will be moving out so accommodations should be easy to find. Quote Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... Barbaraok
March is Spring Training in Phoenix - 15 major league teams will be here, all within a 30-40 minute drive, since a lot of people didn't return for the season, most RV parks have open sites. Casa Grande Ruins are a day trip from anywhere in the Phoenix area, if you have never been, should see. Of course, all openings are dependent upon how the virus is going by then. Sedona is another great area to visit, north of Phoenix with RV parks in Cottonwood and Sedona. Wineries in that area, as well as Tuzigoots, Montezuma's Castle, and Montezuma's Well National Monuments. The drive through Oak Creek Canyon is another day trip (car/truck, no RV) up to Flagstaff and back. Tim and Peggy
Thanks, great idea and perhaps we will put aside the fact that we are Red Sox fans but spring training is always a good get. Hmmm! wonder if fans will be allowed. Sedona might also be a great idea. We flew in our kids for Thanksgiving in November of 2019. Great ideas. Thanks. They are selling tickets for the games, obviously will be masked with seating spaced, etc. Quote Barb & Dave O'Keeffe 2002 Alpine 36 MDDS (Figment II), 2018 Ford C-Max HYBRID Blog: http://www.barbanddave.net SPK# 90761 FMCA #F337834
bigjim
I don't know how common this is but in early March me and a friend had just got out of Marine Corps. Sleeping in bare p/u camper and on the ground we stopped at Williams, AZ for fuel. Cold but dry, no snow. Gas station guy said mildest winter in years. Got into a Grand Canyon self service campground after dark. Would have got there earlier as we stopped to eat at place that had a bar and got into a bar fight. (not our fault but one of us would not back down-stupid) Anyway woke up before daylight and were covered in snow and it was coming down like crazy. We had no chains and were about 21-22 year old southerners with vey little experience with that much snow. We bugged out. Moral to the story be prepared that time of year. Hope you have a great trip. trailertraveler
Valley of Fires State Park is not far North of Las Vegas. In the Flagstaff Area are Sunset Crater National Monument, Wupatki National Monument, and Walnut Canyon National Monument. In the Sedona/Cottonwood/Camp Verde area are Montezuma Castle and Montezuma Well National Monuments, Tuzigoot National Monument, Palatki and Honaki Ruins, the V-Bar-V Heritage Site, Verde Canyon Railroad, Fort Verde State Park, Cathedral Rock, the Gold King Mine, Jerome State Historic Park, the town of Jerome, the town of Sedona, and Schnebly Hill Road and other scenic byways.
