2gypsies
Those planning to be there in the next days should monitor the park's website and make sure your campground is still available - Springdale got hit hard. For those that aren't aware, flash floods are common in the Southwest. It can be sunny where you are but 30 miles away it may have heavy rain. The soil can't absorb the water fast so it just runs out of control. Zion's Narrows 'river walk' is very dangerous when this happens. Slot canyons are also dangerous during these times. In 1997 during an Antelope Canyon tour at Page, AZ a flood came through and killed 11 people with 1 survivor. Remember.... canyons are carved out of water. Monitor the weather closely including the surrounding area. https://www.nps.gov/zion/learn/news/zion-national-park-continues-clean-up-after-flash-flood.htm Quote Full-timed for 16 YearsTraveled 8 yr in a 2004 Newmar Dutch Star 40' Motorhome and 8 yr in a 33' Travel Supreme 5th Wheel
