HERO Maker
Yes. I normally will change it every year. It has now been sitting for about 2 1/2 yrs, so it will get changed before I head out, whenever that may be! usbusin
Do you take oil samples? Do you have a baseline? Might be time to start. tyates007
Yes for sure. I do mine every year and make sure all the fluids are checked. I used to do my own but found a local shop that will do the fuel filter and fluid change as well as inspect the truck for about what I paid for oil. Makes it easy. Disposal of that much oil was the pain. Regardless I would make sure you have fresh oil and 2nd the analysis. I am a huge believer in those. rickeieio
Yep, change it. I hate to dump good oil, but engines are not cheap. Our truck calls for oil changes at 50,000 miles, but with full synthetic. I'm really struggling with that. It'll be two years next March, and will likely only have about 15,000 miles. Care and feeding of these things ain't cheap. But wearing out a smaller truck isn't cheap either. ThelazyFarmer
I change mine once a year regardless of miles. I usually only have 5-7,000 miles a year. Before I purchased the truck and the oil was changed, I had a lab do a check. No red flags. They were impressed based on 660k miles. One of the reasons I purchased this truck. The more time a truck sits without bringing that engine to operating temperature increases the likelihood of condensation mixing with the oil. Add to that used engine oil can be an oxidizer and you have a great recipe for the premature wear of engine components.
