GlennWest
I know slide outs are the high leaker in heat/cold transfer. A heat leakage detector will really show lots at slide outs. Think tyvex tape would help. Once I set up in NC that will be it. Tyvec is breathable so it will not provide any barrier to heat or cooling. When used on houses it provides a waterproof barrier that will let moisture inside the house to escape. If you are sure you are never going to move it again, i.e., no need to ever pull the slides in again, I would suggest using non-expanding spray foam. It will seal against water intrusion plus it has an insulating value.

Glenn, regardless of what you decide, suggest you do a trial-run on your smallest slide-out first (so any re-dos are less expensive). Perhaps build a little roof frame out of aluminum, steel or standard lumber? Add a sheet of water proof plywood, topped with residential shingles? Insulation could be like a house - fiber glass or sheet foam. Attic fan? Hopefully, it will be a fun and productive project. As a side note, both you and Glenn are calling the product the wrong name. It is Tyvek. Used to see that brand name on 100s, if not 1000s, of floppy disc envelopes and other packaging in the military.
