sandsys
I went to one named New Panda Express recently and it was different. You buy a takeout box then fill it yourself. The only rule is it must close. They didn't have all my favorites but I came out OK--got three meals out of that box. IYQ
Hey Steve!! I hate to take advantage of anyone who can't talk to defend himself or drink up the Cranberry Juice before I get to it. So I'm heading your way in the morning and should be there by early afternoon. I hope there is a space open. Sunday is usually good driving traffic wise but if you have trouble there is nobody you can call for help. So keep you eyes crossed (fingers too). It's been a hot and sticky 96 today. I went out after the sun got behind the trees to hook up the truck (or did I hook up the trailer)??? I came back in dripping with sweat. It didn't do me much good to take a shower this morning and put on clean clothing. But it won't be too many days until I'm in the High country where it's dry and cool. Joe Dang, Joe, that sure sounds good. We celebrated Father's day today and also Carol and her sister in law Dee's birthdays. We will be pulling out next Thursday so we will be on the road during both birthdays. Had a great time, I grilled brats, chicken tenders, and fresh corn, with all the other fixings we all walked away stuffed. It was pretty warm here, about 95, but had a little cloud cover so it wasn't too bad. Thing about it is, it's starting to get warm at night which I don't like. mskay
Happy Father's Day to all you Dads roaming around out there! Hope Everyone has a fun plan for today and a safe one too.... We Got up really early this morning and I treated DH to a Father's Day Breakfast at Denny's and we washed the car!!! Not the most romantic thing in the world but wanted to do it before the car is burning up, like now! We will spend the rest of the day laying low to combat this extreme heat, and I have some chicken and burgers to throw on the grill later on. We will get up mighty early again in the morning and head up the road and head for cooler territory! Hope to make Springville Utah by tomorrow night. The plan was to stop and tour Bryce and Zion....however..... I stirred the jello again after looking at the weather forecast for this week, and just can't stay! That will wait for another time. Tues will be 119 at Zion!!! Quote As Always, MsKay - Class of '

Good thing was though I have a couple left over to put in the freezer. Actually raining here today, off and on. So it's been a pretty lazy day just reading and taking a Steve. You all travel safe. Wanderin
Well, well, well -- A deep subject I know. Happy Father's to all you fathers out there. We certainly haven't been having any 113 degree weather like the Browns and I understand bypassing anyplace with three digit temperatures. We had absolutely gorgeous weather for the last few days as we drug Paul and Marsha all over the Portland / Vancouver area and up and down the Columbia looking at fish and waterfalls and roses. They are on a whirlwind trip so we tried to see as much as we could in such a short time. Other than that I think a little shower or two is expected before the temperatures go back up to 80 ~~~ a far cry from that 113! IYQ
I met up with Steve and Carol this afternoon. We had lunch at the Sports Bar in Fire Lake Grande Casino. And boy did we talk. I'll let them off easy tonight but boy do I have a lot of ammunition to embelish the truth with later on. I always enjoy stopping to see Steve and Carol. They're just my kind of people. Steve has to have Oral surgery tomorrow then they are getting ready to pull out and see their son. So I'll head on west tomorrow morning and get to the DRY country. I may have to bear the heat a bit before I head for the high country. My slide is acting up and I need to get it fixed before it strands me somewhere I don't want to be. Zion NP varies in altitude from 3666' to 8726'. I'll bet that forcast for 113 degrees was for down in the bottom of the wash. Every time I've been there in the summer I've found the average high temperature to stay in the mid 80's The same with Bryce Canyon. It's nice and cool along the road up at the rim but hot as H down on the trails in the canyon. After I get my slide fixed I'll be heading up into northern NM. There are a bunch of State parks up there that sit between 7000 and 8000 feet. They stay nice and cool in the summer. In the Casino tonight I went to the Player's Club window to turn in my Card. I told the gal there that they took all the fun out of the slot machines. Especially the pooring out coins when you win. She agreed and said they still have a couple of machines where you pull the handle but none of them pays out actual coins. They just add or subtract to the total on your Player's Card. Then I told her I didn't really understand the games on the new machines and couldn't figure out how to play them with all the buttons to push. She said she didn't either but didn't offer to find someone to explain them to me. Maybe you have to take a 4 year college course to learn how to loose all your money now. ON THE ROAD AGAIN. IYQ
I just pulled into Shamrock TX. I stopped at the 1st RV park I saw. It isn't much and kinda run down. It's one of those place that don't have a tendant. You just put your money in a slot and go set-up. But for just over night and only $14 I guess I won't complain. Maybe! Tomorrow I plan on going to Ute Lake State Park just north of Tucumcari, NM It only sits at 3900' but its bound to be cooler than what I've been having. I'll probably sit there for a few days to make up my mind whether to go to Deming to get my slide fixed or try to find another RV repair facility. I trust the guy in Deming. I think I'll call him first to make sure he can do the job. Now that I'll be in NM I'd better start keeping track of what that Wildfire is doing. The last I heard it was 60% contained. Now comes the goodies. When I called Steve and Carol to tell them I was in Shawnee, Carol answered the phone and greeted me in her own sweet way. Then she said Steve is working on the toilet. Now the first impression I got was that he was doing clerical work of some kind sitting on the john. Then I got the picture of him with a bunch of tools sitting on the john working on some kind of mechanical thing. About that time Steve came in and got on the phone. He said the motor on the toilet quit working. I thought yah that's a likely excuse, some guys will do anything to keep me from getting at the cranberry juice. Then I got the mental image of Steve racing down the insterstate on a motorized toilet, or maybe that toilet was sort of like a taxi cab. It just drives around and when you need it you flag it down by holding up either one or two fingers. Or maybe that motor was being used as a macerator or a high pressure butt washer. No, that would be a little dangerous. Then he told me that he was replacing the motor and would be a little bit late coming over to the Casino. I thought now where does he expect to get a toilet motor on Sunday. With a story like that I was about to just forget it and go over to the Casino and see If I could find where he has been hiding that Ice Cream Machine. So I said take your time and that ended the phone conversation. But Low and Behold about the time I was ready to dismiss the whole incident I looked out the window and there they were with an Ice Chest full of Cranberry Juice and because they didn't have lunch yet I jumped in with them and off we went to the Casino. It was a real good lunch and when the bill came I pretented to have a mouth full so I could out fumble Steve for the Check. It worked. After Lunch we went out into the lobby and there it was as big and shinny as it could be, the missing Ice Cream Machine. Now Carol had had enough of me yelling about that Ice Cream machine so she made us pose infront of it so she had evidence with the pictures she took. Then we went to my trailer and shot the bull for a while until they had to leave. I took this time to tell you guys all about this today because Steve had Oral Sergury today and can't do much talking to conteract all my nice embelishment of the facts. Don't beleave a word of this. Steve and Carol are great folks and one heck of a lot of fun. IYQ
Ha Ha, Good come back Steve. Hope you recover quickly. I'm at Ute Lake State Park NM, I'll be here at least 7 days because that is how much my $28 I paid will pay for electricity to run my AC. This park is a little off the beaten track on Ute Lake near Logan, NM. It's just North of Tucumcari, NM. It's hot 96 in the shade and 103 in the sun, but with only 15% humidity it's not that bad. With $4 a night for electricity I think I can afford to run the AC all day and all night if needed. This is a nice park with hugh spaces and a shade shelter over the picnic tables. There is Water and electric on site for $4 a night or Full hook-ups for $8 a night. I'll use the dump station when needed. The Park has free Wi-Fi. That's good because the phone signal comes and goes. I'll stay here until I get some information about my favorite RV man being able to fix my slide out. The town of Logan, NM is just a couple miles down the road and looks like it's large enough to get anything I may need while I'm here. Oh how I love my New Mexico Parks Pass. It pays all my camping fees. It cost me $225 but I've already used it for over a months camping and still have until April 30, 2013 to use it. It pays all basic camping fees and if I want Electric I pay that seperate at $4 a nite. As soon as I find out about my slide Out I'll head for some of the parks that are above 7000 feet. There're nice and cool all summer long. IYQ
I guess my joke about Steve's Toilet Motor ran everyone off. Nobody has posted in the past two days. Come back gang. I promise I'll be good. (For a while) What a difference a day makes. The last few days have been up in the 105 degree range. This morning I woke up to 68 degree weather, windy and cloudy skies. It's nearly noon right now and the temperature is still only 71 outside with a 15 to 20 mph wind. This park is nearly empty. If it were not for all the Volunteer work campers it would be pretty lonesome. After all the hot weather, I had to wear a jacket outside this morning. At least I was able to get some walking done without my skin leaking. I just got a new neighbor across the street but another one just pulled out about 20 minutes ago. IYQ
Just left Las Vegas in the Rear view..... as fast as our wheels will go...we're headed north. It was 100 at 9:30! suppose to have some wind....don't like that, but we're moving on out! Still have about 370 today to go!!! We're headed NORTH! Yay!!!!! 80 is a dream..... Your departure is just in time to avoid the Arizona/New Mexico Monsoon. Starting late June and ending in early September. You have never seen rain until you witness the strenght of the rain during moonsoon. And more cloud to ground lightning strikes than Florida gets. But they do cool the weather down and provide the moisture the desert needs to florish. Mt Lemon just north of Tucson is about the worst area for lightning. So don't go hiking there during monsoon. I'm sort of waiting for monsoon before going down to Deming to get my slide-out fixed. It's too hot now but the heat is what causes the monsoon. The rising heat makes the wind switch directions and blow in from the South east rather than coming from the SW like it normally does. That brings in moist air from the gulf. Google "Southwest Monsoon" or "New Mexico monsoon season", and you'll learn a bunch. When I lived in Flagstaff, AZ we had a Storm every after from the 4th of july until Labor Day about 2PM each afternoon. You could almost set your watch by it. The rain would come down in sheets. You couldn't see 10 feet infront of yourself. But it only lasted about an hour and a half each day. Striper
Hmmmm NM and CO trying to burn the state down, Montaaaaaaana having a heat wave, Steve losing the Ice Cream Machine, shoot ain't much of anything going on up here in the PNW by comparison. Been pretty nice up here on the Island lately, short sleeve and shorts weather. However reservations here at the Resort are filling up, so I should have a good size work crew available to help with projects real soon.
